To make AutoTempest better, you should...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

    Original message: Hi, could you please paste a link to your search results page, and let me know which automatic vehicles are coming up when they shouldn’t be? I just tried a couple of searches with the manual only filter set, and it did appear to be working for me, so your search would really help me track down the problem. Thanks!

  2. simplify

    stop doing gay things like making the "x/close button" rotate when hovered over.

    Every one of these dumb ideas adds to the annoyance of a web site.

  3. how about my keyword actually locates what I'm looking for, i put "cap" in the keyword field and none. Do your one and only job!

  5. Refine

    The "Refine Search" function should search what is asked. I looked for all Lexus with a manual transmission only which should be a smaller number since they are rare. It included ALL Lexus that did not specify it's transmission in their listings, which was a huge number of ads.

  8. advance search bug

    When doing a broad "all makes/ models" search the system does not distinguish the difference when a specific Body Type is selected. (ex. Trucks) the search results will yield all types of vehicles instead of limiting the search to just Pickup Trucks

    For all sources except Bring a Trailer, that doesn’t appear to be the case; I just double checked, and it does filter by body style as expected. Bring a Trailer doesn’t record body styles, so we’re not able to filter on our end. There’s a message at the top of the Bring a Trailer section to that effect. I think we may change to not showing those results by default when there’s a filter we can’t match on though.

  9. List more cars

    I entered the same search in my area on your site and then craigslist. Your site ( that supposedly looks at all sites) found 1(one) car. Craigslist alone showed me over 100 cars. Major flaw apparently.
    My suggestion is to fix the site to do what you say it will do.

    We do not have access to listings from craigslist, so we do what we can: we produce links to craigslist search results pages matching your search, and work out the most efficient set of such links to cover your entire search area, if it is larger than the 200-mile radius craigslist supports. If you scroll to the craigslist section of our results page and click the ‘Open All’ button, you will see these results, and will find everything that you would find searching craigslist manually (except much more quickly).

  10. Millage

    Why in the world would you allow listing of cars without the actual millage, millage is such an important critria, I would not waste my time to contact the seller, if millage not posted, and I would peter to use other websites where they mandate the millage such as Facebook Marketplace, Craig's list or Auto Trader than a site allows this.

  11. Differentiate between paddle shift and gated manual

    When searching for manual transmission, the results come up for paddle shift / electronic gear cars. I would like more specific transmission choices so we can find three pedal cars more easily.

    Certainly the intent of the manual transmission filter is to only show actual manual transmissions, IE with a clutch pedal. The problem is, some sellers will list anything that can be manually shifted as a manual (for some reason that I can’t comprehend). Because we aggregate listings from multiple third parties, rather than getting them directly from the sellers, it’s difficult for us to do anything about this, beyond encouraging our partners to label their listings correctly.
