To make AutoTempest better, you should...

Send notifications when a new listing is found for my search

One of our most requested features has been to send a notification when we find a new listing for particular searches. We're constantly thinking about ways that we can make this a reality. Vote for this idea if you want to see it happen sooner rather than later!

Wow, it’s been a while, hasn’t it! It hasn’t been mothballed, but it has been back-burnered in favor of a couple more pressing things. We’re working right now to improve keyword searches—we’ve already added support for positive and negative quoted phrases, and are planning to add full AND/OR logical searches soon. After that should be better classification of models and potentially trims, and THEN this is the next major feature planned after that.

I'd like to receive an alert when alerts have been added as a feature. Ha!

send me an alert to my cell when a new ad nationwide appears that matches my criteria for a car - year - make - model - mileage

Save search profiles, then email or text alerts when car shows up on a source.

@Brian @Nathan That's exactly what I was going to write. ANYTHING is better than nothing. This would be great because I'm not currently in dire need of a car, but I would like to upgrade if something came along that meets my criteria. An alert, any alert would help me to remember to search every now and then AND it would drive traffic (heh) to your website. Which is a win for everyone involved.

In the past it was different because our results were sourced from multiple sources, some of which did not support this sort of automated updating. That has changed recently though, so this is something we are planning to add in the not too distant future. Our small team just has a couple of priorities to get through first. (The biggest one being improving how makes and models are selected, so you can enter your own choice and optionally choose from an autocomplete list, rather than only choosing from our lists.) We are definitely planning to add alerts when we can though!

Real Estate sites do this very well - I get a daily email on houses that are available that match my parameters. How/why would cars be different?

    Hi Jim,

We are working on making this happen! It's a lot more difficult than it sounds, with lots of technical and legal considerations to be taken into account. But it is one of the top things on our minds right now. We'll let you know when it's underway!

    Cheers!

Why does this not exist? It's the core reason people use this service. To get a notification the moment a specific vehicle is listed, on any of the searchable platforms, would be a driving factor for me to use this service.
