  1. Interior Color for AutoTempest listings

Sellers are able to offer cars directly on AutoTempest like this one https://www.autotempest.com/details/vast--1629213745690845866. The seller specified the interior color ‘Light Cashmere/Medium Cashmere’.

In the normal search, on the left hand side, I have a list of interiors colors. None of those predefined colors matches, even not ‘Beige + Not Specified’.

‘Any’ works. Not going for a predefined color but manually entering the term ‘Cashmere’ works as well. However, that does not list all cars with beige interior. ‘Cashmere + Beige’ does not list any car, the same for ‘Cashmere + Tan’ or ‘Cashmere + Not specified’. Surprisingly, just entering…

Thanks for reporting. Looking into this now. While those listings are branded AutoTempest, they do come from a number of sources - basically anything that doesn't have a public website like cars.com, truecar, etc., goes under the AutoTempest brand. So it's still a matter of standardizing the info we get from them. We probably missed "Cashmere". Also though, it sounds like you uncovered a bug, since you should be able to search both a standard color and a custom one together and get results. Will get that sorted!

  2. Posted for longer than a year: Year missing

If a car is posted for several days, your webpage shows ‘Apr 3rd’ beside a small clock icon. Love that. However, if the car was posted last year in April, there is no mentioning of the year like ‘Apr 3rd '23’. Consequently, one does not know whether it was posted ‘Apr 3rd '24’ or ‘Apr 3rd '23’ or ‘Apr 3rd '22’ or …

Normally, cars are not posted that long, I know. Normally, you have several cars spread over several months making this obvious. However, I am just reporting, for example in this search https://www.autotempest.com/results?make=chevrolet&model=volt&localization=any&domesticonly=0&minyear=2013&maxyear=2013&exterior_color=gray&interior_color=beige only two cars get listed,…

  3. retain the sources list on refresh

When I pull up email search results and refresh the page to see the latest results of that search, the sources list randomly resets to different values, thus affecting the new search results. The selected sources do not appear to be saved with the rest of the settings in the saved search.

So, what's happening here is, the list of sites to choose is a preference rather than part of the search. When you open the sites list and save your changes, those settings will be used for all future searches until you change it again. Except... if you saved an alert with a different set of sites than the one you're now using, and you pull up the results from that search, we will show all the sites that were saved to the alert, because otherwise you might not see the cars you were alerted on.

However, we didn't want to just override your setting, since that might not be expected. As you've pointed out though, that causes a different kind of unexpected behavior, in that next search (including if you refresh), it then reverts back to your saved site list. We will need to address that.

    We'll dig into the…
