Currently, you can only search one model at a time on AutoTempest. We will eventually be adding the ability to search multiple models in one search.23 votes
Make Autotempest into a mobile app.11 votes
For now we’re going to focus on the web app, as we feel our time is best spent adding features there. If you’re interested in a mobile app specifically though, please comment with the specific features you’re looking for that the web app doesn’t offer. (Please note that you can add a shortcut on your homescreen to open the current web app like you would open an app.)
sort by amount of savings. compare listing price with the national average price and display percentage saved by purchasing a given car. this way people looking for the best deal and not necessarily a particular car, could quickly sort through adds.8 votes
This is not a bad idea! It could end up being more difficult than it’s worth, but we’ll look into it.
Make it available worldwide - ebay and autotrader and craigslist is available in other countries too. I'm hoping for the UK edition.
We would definitely like to expand to other geos in the future, and the UK would probably be top of the list. Before that though, we have a number of improvements we want to make to the current site. (In particular, we’ve got some new filters to add, and our model matching isn’t as good as we’d like it to be yet.)
In the meantime, you could try using our other site, www.searchtempest.com. It will let you search craigslist and eBay worldwide. (Although it does use a google custom search rather than direct links to search craigslist outside North America, so it won’t always catch everything.)
We know, Hemmings is a blatant omission from our current list of sources. Vote for this to see Hemmings added as a source sooner rather than later!6 votes
Add an option to out selected filters to a RSS link that RSS Readers can read and alert user a used car has been listed4 votes
Since we currently search multiple sources, we aren’t able to make one big RSS feeds containing all the results. You can get RSS feeds for the craigslist results only by clicking “Feeds for this search” in the top right of the SearchTempest window that’s opened when you click the craigslist source on AutoTempest. We are looking at various ways we can notify users when a new ad that matches their search is posted :)
Hope this helps!
It would be great to save interested cars in a workbook to compare and download.4 votes
Need to include "YJ" under your Jeep listings like you do for CJ & TJ. YJ's are missing.1 vote
Currently when there are different model names used in different regions, we try to stick to the US model names, so the YJ would be searched via Wrangler. To get YJ models specifically, you could set the min and max years to 1986-1995.
If you’re specifically looking for models produced outside the US and sold as YJ rather than Wrangler, please choose ‘Other Jeep model’, and then enter YJ. It does appear that we should remove TJ from the list though, for the same reason.
Carsforsale.com is a strong website for classic car enthusiasts and could draw in more usage of autotempest if you put it in. Love your website guys' website! Thanks!
We’d love to work with carsforsale. Pleas consider reaching out to them to suggest it as well.!
There are tons you could add to become THE place to start a search.1 vote
Would love to do this. If you’d like to see BAT results on AutoTempest, please reach out to them and let them know.
The 2012-2016 Accord Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is missing as a distinct model from the Accord Hybrid1 vote
OK, looks like I was wrong. The PHEV version was introduced for 2014 (and discontinued after 2015), but they kept selling the non-plug-in version alongside.
It also looks like a number of our sources have the hybrids listed under regular ‘Accord’, not ‘Accord Hybrid’ specifically’. So for now, I would suggest searching the ‘Accord’ model, and adding “hybrid” and “plug-in” to your keywords.
We are planning to add a ‘fuel type’ filter soon, and will look into whether we can differentiate between non-plug-in and plug-in hybrids. We’re also looking at adding a ‘trim keywords’ field, which would allow you to search for ‘plug-in’ in the model or trim names, as opposed to anywhere in the description (where you will also get silly things like “aux plug-in”). Hoping to have those ready before long, along with sorting out the model inconsistency.
There are too many vehicles listed as manual when they are in fact automatics. This is an extreme annoyance when searching for a manual as you must also go into the listing, instead of just through the search list, and look at pictures to confirm it is truly a manual. It would be a good idea to also request why the report of a bad listing is being made.1 vote
That’s a good idea. I especially like the idea of flagging wrong transmission type or other wrong info, either for us to review, or maybe to filter automatically somehow (without allowing for abuse). We’ve got a few other things on the go for now, but will definitely keep this in mind.
Or code your site to offer other newer or slightly less popular car listing site results if you still can't find the car you're looking for with the core listing sites. I know I've experienced that with AutoTempest and debated whether or not it was really worthwhile for me to keep using AT.1 vote
