We would definitely like to expand to other geos in the future, and the UK would probably be top of the list. Before that though, we have a number of improvements we want to make to the current site. (In particular, we’ve got some new filters to add, and our model matching isn’t as good as we’d like it to be yet.)
In the meantime, you could try using our other site, www.searchtempest.com. It will let you search craigslist and eBay worldwide. (Although it does use a google custom search rather than direct links to search craigslist outside North America, so it won’t always catch everything.)

Autotempest mobile app
Make Autotempest into a mobile app.
20 votesFor now we’re going to focus on the web app, as we feel our time is best spent adding features there. If you’re interested in a mobile app specifically though, please comment with the specific features you’re looking for that the web app doesn’t offer. (Please note that you can add a shortcut on your homescreen to open the current web app like you would open an app.)

Sort by savings on a car / pricing tool
sort by amount of savings. compare listing price with the national average price and display percentage saved by purchasing a given car. this way people looking for the best deal and not necessarily a particular car, could quickly sort through adds.
9 votesThis is not a bad idea! It could end up being more difficult than it’s worth, but we’ll look into it.

Save individual results
It would be great to save interested cars in a workbook to compare and download.

report bad listings
There are too many vehicles listed as manual when they are in fact automatics. This is an extreme annoyance when searching for a manual as you must also go into the listing, instead of just through the search list, and look at pictures to confirm it is truly a manual. It would be a good idea to also request why the report of a bad listing is being made.
6 votesThat’s a good idea. I especially like the idea of flagging wrong transmission type or other wrong info, either for us to review, or maybe to filter automatically somehow (without allowing for abuse). We’ve got a few other things on the go for now, but will definitely keep this in mind.

I'd Like to see a search by VIN feature where the results are all similar vehicles of the same year or a range of years.
Enter the VIN number in order to populate vehicles that are the same make model (trim and year can be set on a spectrum).

Search by number of seatbelts!
Please please please add a feature to search for vehicle by number of seatbelts. There are a lot of SUVs that make models with an optional third row and it is incredibly tedious to look at each listing.

Add Carsforsale.com to the searched websites list
Carsforsale.com is a strong website for classic car enthusiasts and could draw in more usage of autotempest if you put it in. Love your website guys' website! Thanks!
-Kal2 votesWe’d love to work with carsforsale. Pleas consider reaching out to them to suggest it as well.!

Truck indepth search needed!!!
This site seriously needs more in depth truck options. There isnt a 2x4 or 4x4 option, no regular cab, extended cab, crew cab option or long bed, short bed, motor options. Having these options would help narrow down searches and save customers time....just helpful info from a dealer that deals with this on the daily
2 votesAgreed. We will be adding the drive type (2wd, 4×4 etc.) soon. The others are a bit trickier as our sources don’t currently provide that information, but we do support advanced keywords, so you could search for something like
“extended cab” OR “crew cab”
using the keywords field, for instance.

Side by side comparison
A side by side comparison of behicles you pick. Mileage, $$$, year, key accesories, etc....
1 voteGreat idea, I'll pass this along to the team for consideration. Thanks for taking the time to send this to us!

add the ability to filter out specific sellers.
My results are full of flood and totaled vehicles, even when I sort by clean title. The ability to blacklist sellers would be fantastic, since it's just the one seller. They're 43 miles from me, but all the big cities are around 100miles away, so I can't change distance.
1 voteWhile we don't have an explicit option to filter sellers, we do support negative keywords. Is the dealer's name in the body of the ad? If so, you could filter out any ads containing that word by putting it in the keywords prefaced by a minus sign, like
-dealername
Does that help?

Add a weight filter
Add a filter for cars that have a GVWR of 6000 lbs or more for tax incentives.

Add a Find a Hooptie Feature.
Click the "Find a Hooptie" button and a random Hooptie shows up. Car must be over 15 years old and Tyler Hoovie has owned. At least something that is collectable. Car also must not be in mint or good condition.

Create CYCLE TEMPEST
A new search vehicle for motorcycles would be great!

Please add a Right Hand Drive (RHD) search option. RHD cars in the USA are cheap, great for export, but finding them takes an age!

1 voteHave you tried using the keywords field to search? I would think searching for either “right hand drive” or RHD would find them all. You can do that like this:
“right hand drive” | RHD

Reorder saved searches
I currently have many saved searches, and would like to reorder them based on makes and models
1 voteGreat idea and would be a great addition to the site.

Add buttons to save vehicle to 'watch list', or to ignore vehicle in searches
It would be nice when searching lots of cars in multiple searches to ignore certain cars, and to be able to review a car, and then save it for future consideration (maybe with a 7 day limit to keep the list fresh). This would be better than grabbing URLs and stuffing in Keep.
1 voteThis is definitely something that’s on our radar; we have some other priorities that are higher, since bookmarks or something like Keep does work for this, but we agree that a feature like you describe here would be helpful!
- Don't see your idea?
