Add ability to search multiple models
Currently, you can only search one model at a time on AutoTempest. We will eventually be adding the ability to search multiple models in one search.

Add a tool for searching enthusiast forums
We know that some of the best listings on the web are found in enthusiast forums. Because there are so many of them out there, it would be infeasible to add them all as separate sources to the main AutoTempest search, at least at the moment. We're planning on building a separate search tool to search specifically for ads on enthusiast forums. If you'd like to see this feature added sooner rather than later, vote for it!

Allow to filter searches by number of cylinders
Filter search results by number of cylinders, or, even better, engine layout (e.g. I6, V6, H6, rotary, etc.)

Autotempest mobile app
Make Autotempest into a mobile app.
17 votesFor now we’re going to focus on the web app, as we feel our time is best spent adding features there. If you’re interested in a mobile app specifically though, please comment with the specific features you’re looking for that the web app doesn’t offer. (Please note that you can add a shortcut on your homescreen to open the current web app like you would open an app.)

Sort by savings on a car / pricing tool
sort by amount of savings. compare listing price with the national average price and display percentage saved by purchasing a given car. this way people looking for the best deal and not necessarily a particular car, could quickly sort through adds.
9 votesThis is not a bad idea! It could end up being more difficult than it’s worth, but we’ll look into it.

Allow city, state instead of just zip codes
Please code the basic search line to allow city, state instead of just zip codes. I am looking at buying a used car outside the rust belt and I keep having to a zip code search first.
9 votesThis is something we’re planning to do eventually. Only reason we haven’t done it yet is some other priorities we’re working on first.

Save individual results
It would be great to save interested cars in a workbook to compare and download.

Hi Jim,
Since we currently search multiple sources, we aren’t able to make one big RSS feeds containing all the results. You can get RSS feeds for the craigslist results only by clicking “Feeds for this search” in the top right of the SearchTempest window that’s opened when you click the craigslist source on AutoTempest. We are looking at various ways we can notify users when a new ad that matches their search is posted :)
Hope this helps!

report bad listings
There are too many vehicles listed as manual when they are in fact automatics. This is an extreme annoyance when searching for a manual as you must also go into the listing, instead of just through the search list, and look at pictures to confirm it is truly a manual. It would be a good idea to also request why the report of a bad listing is being made.
5 votesThat’s a good idea. I especially like the idea of flagging wrong transmission type or other wrong info, either for us to review, or maybe to filter automatically somehow (without allowing for abuse). We’ve got a few other things on the go for now, but will definitely keep this in mind.

I'd Like to see a search by VIN feature where the results are all similar vehicles of the same year or a range of years.
Enter the VIN number in order to populate vehicles that are the same make model (trim and year can be set on a spectrum).

I would switch to AutoTempest from cars.com if you offered the ability to filter by interior color.

Add a search text field with auto complete
Add a elastic search field that will autocomplete make and model. This would make searching from a long list of makes and models a lot easier and also reduce the time taken by a user to get from the search page to their search results.
3 votesMake/model comboboxes are planned!

Add Carsforsale.com to the searched websites list
Carsforsale.com is a strong website for classic car enthusiasts and could draw in more usage of autotempest if you put it in. Love your website guys' website! Thanks!

Please add a Right Hand Drive (RHD) search option. RHD cars in the USA are cheap, great for export, but finding them takes an age!

1 voteHave you tried using the keywords field to search? I would think searching for either “right hand drive” or RHD would find them all. You can do that like this:
“right hand drive” | RHD

AUTOMOTIVE Journalist and Linux Software enthusiast with Ideas
Good afternoon,
My name is Malcolm Dean. I would like to enquire about job opportunities and a couple of Ideas for Car Trek. First off I have a Linux software background with a background in auto sales and management. Is Autotempest.com looking for employees? Second I have published articles online and for magazines.

SecondEd, Tyler, and Tavarish need a fourth series involving the "Best offroad SUV". It's an Idea that the trio hasn't explored and a seven -part series would be fantastic. A seven-part series with the "Best depriciated" SUV. Thank you for your time. Happy new year's,

Add buttons to save vehicle to 'watch list', or to ignore vehicle in searches
It would be nice when searching lots of cars in multiple searches to ignore certain cars, and to be able to review a car, and then save it for future consideration (maybe with a 7 day limit to keep the list fresh). This would be better than grabbing URLs and stuffing in Keep.
1 voteThis is definitely something that’s on our radar; we have some other priorities that are higher, since bookmarks or something like Keep does work for this, but we agree that a feature like you describe here would be helpful!
