To make AutoTempest better, you should...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Make it so people can submit their own ads

    Since the AutoTempest used car search only aggregates car ads from other sources at the moment, we have no way you can add your own car ad. We're planning to make it so you can list your car directly with us in the future though! If you'd like to see this feature added soon, vote for it!

    Private postings on Cars.com are now shown on AutoTempest (or will be in a couple of days), so the best way to post your own vehicle on AutoTempest is now to post it on Cars.com! You can do that using the ‘sell’ link at the top of our homepage.

    It turns out the best way to handle this is to allow keyword searching of the trim field. The reason is, most sellers are very inconsistent with what they enter for vehicle trim, so it is difficult to present it as a coherent list. Instead, if you’re looking for a specific trim, please type it in the keywords box and it should find relevant listings.

  4. Option to filter new listings

    Have an option to filter out new results. It's inconvenient and time consuming to surf through pages and pages of results on such a large database. There should be a button that can provide viewing options for new listings and/or listings posted in the last ___ days.

  5. Add an option to filter by date posted

    Filter results to only results posted in the last X days. This filter already exists on SearchTempest.

  6. Only show model asled for

    When searching for a golf r a gti or base model shouldn't be showing up. It would be nice to be able to narrow down the amount of vehicles shown. So that you can find exactly what you want. Thanks for your time.

  11. make it easy to see all alerts registered to an email

    After the recent server crash, I can't tell if many of my searches have gone quiet or were lost. You sent a list of active alerts after the incident, but many of my searches have inexplicably fallen silent. I have no idea which searches are still active. And because I customize the sources, that makes it very difficult to guess the exact parameters saved in a given search. If you embed a .csv of the search parameters in each email, I can figure it out from there. Or let me enter my email on the website and download a .csv…

  15. Craigslist-Vehicle Type

    For example, if I check "wagon" for the vehicle type, the search results are not actually filtered to wagons only. The craigslist results will show every type of vehicle.

  17. Separate Montero from Montero Sport: They are not the same...

    When searching for "Montero" all the Montero Sports show up as well as it creates a lot to sift through to find the full-sized Montero's. They're not the same at all.

  19. Let us type in model names, instead of choosing yours.

    Sometimes they are misspelled in the ads and can be found by misspelling them in the search blocks.
