Use AI to refine tags from pictures submitted by seller to limit subitter from adding crazy non existant tags and features
This could help you refine the search to help limit the submitter from dumping bunk data to get clicks. You could also use AI to better organize data so that your featured autos pop up based on location and vehicle demographics, or produce alternate options for purchaser in an extended search based on interest or need. Add the ability to exclude certain states. I would like to exclude rust belt states from my results when searching nationwide.
I'm searching nationwide for Ford Raptors, while they are very common and I'm willing to fly, I want to exclude salt states from my search.

Upvote and Downvote System For Each Listing
A "reddit" style upvote/downvote system for listings that would reflect the communities interest or quality of the vehicle being listed. Only logged in users could vote, but all visitors could see. Highly upvoted listings could drive attention and pricing. Don't show an overall downvoted listing (to avoid abuse), but report results to listing owner so they can improve their marketing.

Filter by franchise vs. independent dealers
Hi! Thanks for making AutoTempest, it really is the best auto search platform right now. One feature I'd really love is the ability to filter dealer cars by franchised dealer (e.g. "Smith Honda") vs. independent dealers. This would be helpful for people like me who prefer buying from only dealers affiliated with a manufacturer -- they tend to hold their cars to a higher standard since the manufacturers name is on the line. Certain lenders -- Los Angeles Credit Union, for a real world example -- also provide discounts if the vehicle being purchased is from a franchised dealer, making…

Add engine HP to main summary
One of the main reasons CarGurus.com is the first place I go is the ability to see engine HP on the main summary. A number of vehicles will have the same engine size and cylinder count, but different tunes, or a turbo/supercharger that drastically changes the vehicles viability for use. Seeing this HP in the quick summary is wildly helpful.

Be able to dismiss vehicles that are mislabeled or misrepresented so people don't have to keep moving through those in saved serches.
In a saved search, 60%-70% of the specific trim I'm looking for are misrepresented or mislabeled by the various sellers (dealers and private). It would be nice to be able to dismiss individual cars that pop up in the results so people don't have to sift through them every time. (i.e. Remove this listing from future search updates)
9 votesThis is a feature we're considering, but it's going to be a bit, as we've got a few other things in the pipeline first. (At a minimum we'll need to have user accounts first, so there's somewhere to store the cars you've hidden.)
Regarding that specific search, please consider submitting a support ticket; maybe we can clean up the results.

Flag to exclude lot drives mechanic special
When sorting results with cheapest cars first, the top results are often honest ads for cars showing substantial crash damage or disclosing unfixed mechanical problems. Sellers are honest here; titles are not necessarily branded, salvage.
Ideally you would have a condition field like Amazon has for sales of used books (mint/good/fair/damaged/partial etc) but if you could simply brainstorm ten top keywords of "damage, collision, crash, flood, inoperable, lot drives, mechanics special..." and built the field and flag yourself that would be very helpful.1 vote -

"No Accidents" Filter
It's very frustrating looking for a clean titled vehicle only to click on an option, scroll down, and see the dreaded "Accident or Damage Reported".
These vehicles should have a filter to be completely hidden. Many of the results are coming from cars.com, and this website has a very distinct and obvious section where damage is reported.
9 votesYeah, that could be annoying for sure. Most accidents don't result in a totalled car or branded title, so if you're trying to filter out any car that's had an accident, that's not currently possible. Unfortunately we don't currently have access to that information from most sources. (The carfax information that appears on the Cars.com detail pages isn't included in the feed they send us.) I'll certainly keep this request open though; maybe we can get that added in the future.
In the meantime, if there are common phrases you're noticing in the vehicle descriptions that note there has been accident damage, you could filter those out with negative keywords or key phrases, using a minus sign followed by the word or phrase, like -"accident damage". But as I said, the specific section you mentioned that's provided by Carfax doesn't appear to be part of the vehicle description that we…

Please Add "Made In" filter to search
I would like to see models there were made in Japan for example (VIN starting with J) and this can be easily achieved with a "Made In" filter.
Compare the starting letters of a VIN with the table in World manufacturer identifier and we can then search for cars that were manufactured in any country.

Ability to hold the CTRL button to select multiple options from the dropdown menus.
Currently when you select a color or other option from the dropdown menu the menu closes and you have to reopen it for each option you want to select. It would be much nicer & faster if we could hold the CTRL button down and the menus stay open so we can select multiple options quickly.

Detailed Transmission Filter search
I would like to see detailed transmissions search. Not only automatic or manual but also able to see - Cvt - 8 speed - 10 speed which manufacturer, - manual but is it 4 speed or 6 speed. And being able to filter the search for exact speed or model.

Add filters for max seating capacity
Please add a filter for number of people the cars seat. With different SUVs with a 3rd row is not always straight fwd if it seats 7 or 8 people.

Print the unique number of cars accross all partners for a given search criterias
As a user, I would like to know how many unique cars there are across all partners for my research,
So that I can better estimate how many cars in my search are in the overall market at a given time.I believe that using the tuple [Make, Model, Price, Year, Mileage] to guess if it's the same car across multiple partners would be sufficient. Would be better with VIN but no all ads display it.

1 voteCurrently we do already deduplicate vehicles from different partners, so for thr most part anyngiven car should only be seen (and counted ) once. (Though occasionally exceptions will slip through.) We also already show a combined count of vehicles returned from all sources at the top of the page.
What's missing is, it currently only shows the number that have been displayed; if there are multiple pages of results, the later pages won't be added to the count until they've been loaded. (This is because our back-end queries haven't actually pulled up those vehicles yet, so the front end doesn't know how many there are.) This was necessary in the past to keep the searches as fast as possible. However as search tools have progressed it's less important now. So we actually do have plans to add a complete count, not only of results, but also of remaining results for…
