  1. Print the unique number of cars accross all partners for a given search criterias

As a user, I would like to know how many unique cars there are across all partners for my research,
So that I can better estimate how many cars in my search are in the overall market at a given time.

I believe that using the tuple [Make, Model, Price, Year, Mileage] to guess if it's the same car across multiple partners would be sufficient. Would be better with VIN but no all ads display it.

Love auto-tempest! I'm a developer myself and in the market for a new car and that idea is very convenient! I guess you cannot…

Currently we do already deduplicate vehicles from different partners, so for thr most part anyngiven car should only be seen (and counted ) once.  (Though occasionally exceptions will slip through.)  We also already show a combined count of vehicles returned from all sources at the top of the page.

What's missing is, it currently only shows the number that have been displayed; if there are multiple pages of results, the later pages won't be added to the count until they've been loaded. (This is because our back-end queries haven't actually pulled up those vehicles yet, so the front end doesn't know how many there are.) This was necessary in the past to keep the searches as fast as possible. However as search tools have progressed it's less important now. So we actually do have plans to add a complete count, not only of results, but also of remaining results for…

  2. Be able to flag results that show inaccurate info so it falls off your search

or at least highlight it so you can skip it next viewing. Since these errors aren't actually yours, there's nothing really for you to fix. I do a lot of car hunting for manual transmission vehicles and it seems like at least 25% are actually automatics incorrectly listed as manuals. I often look at vehicles multiple times and I invariably forget and re-look at a car that doesn't meet my reqs. If you want to include a pop-up to list the error, it might be something your partner sites can use to clean their data. They really need to ask…

We're definitely planning to offer something like this eventually, but don't have a timeline quite yet.

And I agree with you 100% that a manual has 3 pedals! You're right that we're kind of stuck with what we get reported from partners in most cases (though we do override it in some cases when we can determine it's actually an automatic through other means). So we'll keep working on that too, but your general idea would be useful for a number of cases. We're really focused on a couple of other big features right now though, so I can't give a timeline on this currently.

  3. Increase the number of saved searches or add more options

I want to search for 12 cars (across six brands) in 30 zip codes. At three email addresses per car, I need 36 email addresses to cover my needs. I'm looking for my next OpenPilot car in areas with a low risk of corrosion due to salty air or harsh winter weather road treatments.

If I could click a checkbox for "OpenPilot compatible" and select multiple regions from a dropdown list, such as Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, South, Midwest, Upper Midwest, Plains, Southwest, Mountain West, PNW, and West, I could limit each search to one per brand and stay within the…

We are considering increasing the number of alerts after we add user accounts to link them to (which we'll be focusing on after we finish the price trends tool we're working on now!)

We will also at some point be adding the ability to search multiple makes and models at once, though I'm not sure exactly where that fits on the timeline yet.

For now, I would recommend searching fewer individual zip codes, and instead picking one or two central ones and increasing the search radius to incorporate a larger area.

  4. Sign on

As the title says. Have the ability to have an account sign on to save previous searches.

  5. add the ability to filter out specific sellers.

My results are full of flood and totaled vehicles, even when I sort by clean title. The ability to blacklist sellers would be fantastic, since it's just the one seller. They're 43 miles from me, but all the big cities are around 100miles away, so I can't change distance.

While we don't have an explicit option to filter sellers, we do support negative keywords.  Is the dealer's name in the body of the ad?  If so, you could filter out any ads containing that word by putting it in the keywords prefaced by a minus sign, like

    -dealername

    Does that help?

  6. Create a market map

Would love to see a market map. Number of cars within a distance kind of thing. More stats and nerdy stuff.

  7. add ability to exclude brands and models from a search

I think a search feature that would be helpful when someone isn't searching for a make or model specifically but by option or make only, for example if you're looking for any 4x4 SUV but you know you don't want a Jeep product you can exclude that make.
or searching for any toyota suv except for the CH-R you could exclude it from the search.

That would be very helpful to have in the search filters. We're planning on adding multiple makes/model selection, this might be something that could be included alongside those. Keep an eye out for that feature in the future!

    Cheers,

    Brendan

  8. Ability to hold the CTRL button to select multiple options from the dropdown menus.

Currently when you select a color or other option from the dropdown menu the menu closes and you have to reopen it for each option you want to select. It would be much nicer & faster if we could hold the CTRL button down and the menus stay open so we can select multiple options quickly.

  9. Sort cars by country or continent origin, Like: give me results for German cars.

I would like to search for Italian cars, German cars, USA cars, etc. This will pile up all in one result.

  10. Add incident/service record to listing

Add to the listing that the vehicle has complete and/or available incident/service records that would be filterable.

Could expand on the vehicle title filter, and could allow for a partnership with VIN lookup services.
