Combine multiple models to make searching easier
Ford: E350 Super Duty, E-350, and possibly Econoline 350 should be combined to one search selection as different sites call them different names but they are the same vehicle.
1 voteThanks for pointing that one out. We generally do try to put cases like that all under a single ‘parent’, so they can all be searched at once. We’re in the process of doing a review of our whole model lists, which will fix this model as well as others.
In the meantime, you can work around it by choosing Ford, Any Model. Then in the Trim field, enter this:
E350 | E-350

Option to filter out listing with photos from the ones that don't have photos
1 voteGreat idea and one we’re planning on implementing!

Add a Find a Hooptie Feature.
Click the "Find a Hooptie" button and a random Hooptie shows up. Car must be over 15 years old and Tyler Hoovie has owned. At least something that is collectable. Car also must not be in mint or good condition.

The ability to change currency denominations
I would like to be able to look at cars in CAD instead of USD. For those of us outside of the USA who are looking to buy a car there for personal or professional reasons, having the option to choose your own currency would be great!

Please add a Right Hand Drive (RHD) search option. RHD cars in the USA are cheap, great for export, but finding them takes an age!

1 voteHave you tried using the keywords field to search? I would think searching for either “right hand drive” or RHD would find them all. You can do that like this:
“right hand drive” | RHD

add the ability to filter out specific sellers.
My results are full of flood and totaled vehicles, even when I sort by clean title. The ability to blacklist sellers would be fantastic, since it's just the one seller. They're 43 miles from me, but all the big cities are around 100miles away, so I can't change distance.
1 voteWhile we don't have an explicit option to filter sellers, we do support negative keywords. Is the dealer's name in the body of the ad? If so, you could filter out any ads containing that word by putting it in the keywords prefaced by a minus sign, like
-dealername
Does that help?

Posted for longer than a year: Year missing
If a car is posted for several days, your webpage shows ‘Apr 3rd’ beside a small clock icon. Love that. However, if the car was posted last year in April, there is no mentioning of the year like ‘Apr 3rd '23’. Consequently, one does not know whether it was posted ‘Apr 3rd '24’ or ‘Apr 3rd '23’ or ‘Apr 3rd '22’ or …
Normally, cars are not posted that long, I know. Normally, you have several cars spread over several months making this obvious. However, I am just reporting, for example in this search https://www.autotempest.com/results?make=chevrolet&model=volt&localization=any&domesticonly=0&minyear=2013&maxyear=2013&exterior_color=gray&interior_color=beige only two cars get listed,…
1 voteGood point. We've added this to plans.

Sort cars by country or continent origin, Like: give me results for German cars.
I would like to search for Italian cars, German cars, USA cars, etc. This will pile up all in one result.
1 voteThat could be really handy having them grouped together like that.

Print the unique number of cars accross all partners for a given search criterias
As a user, I would like to know how many unique cars there are across all partners for my research,
So that I can better estimate how many cars in my search are in the overall market at a given time.I believe that using the tuple [Make, Model, Price, Year, Mileage] to guess if it's the same car across multiple partners would be sufficient. Would be better with VIN but no all ads display it.
Love auto-tempest! I'm a developer myself and in the market for a new car and that idea is very convenient! I guess you cannot…
1 voteCurrently we do already deduplicate vehicles from different partners, so for thr most part anyngiven car should only be seen (and counted ) once. (Though occasionally exceptions will slip through.) We also already show a combined count of vehicles returned from all sources at the top of the page.
What's missing is, it currently only shows the number that have been displayed; if there are multiple pages of results, the later pages won't be added to the count until they've been loaded. (This is because our back-end queries haven't actually pulled up those vehicles yet, so the front end doesn't know how many there are.) This was necessary in the past to keep the searches as fast as possible. However as search tools have progressed it's less important now. So we actually do have plans to add a complete count, not only of results, but also of remaining results for…

Vehicle size selection
Select vehicle size: micro, sub-compact, compact, etc
1 voteThat could be a helpful search feature!
You can search for vehicles with those words in the descriptions by using the keyword field: https://www.autotempest.com/results?zip=90210&localization=any&domesticonly=0&keywords=compact but this will also pull up other models that might have those words in the description so you get mixed results. Having a dedicated filter for it would eliminate results that don't match the size.

Ability to hold the CTRL button to select multiple options from the dropdown menus.
Currently when you select a color or other option from the dropdown menu the menu closes and you have to reopen it for each option you want to select. It would be much nicer & faster if we could hold the CTRL button down and the menus stay open so we can select multiple options quickly.

The ability to search craigslist regions instead of a "circle" around my area.
The ability to search craigslist regions instead of a "circle" around my area.
So if I want to exclude let's say cars from Salt Lake City vs. Phoenix.
If I live in vegas and search within a certain circle I get both, but I don't ever want cars from Utah or Idaho for that matter. So if I could just have a clickable map to always search that would be nice.
1 voteWe’re actually planning to add a filter very soon that will let you restrict results to only within your state, so hopefully that will help. A fully customized selector, potentially with a map, would be much more involved, and may not be worth the time or interface complexity compared to other things we could do—but we will consider it. Will leave this under review for now.

add ability to exclude brands and models from a search
I think a search feature that would be helpful when someone isn't searching for a make or model specifically but by option or make only, for example if you're looking for any 4x4 SUV but you know you don't want a Jeep product you can exclude that make.
or searching for any toyota suv except for the CH-R you could exclude it from the search.1 voteThat would be very helpful to have in the search filters. We're planning on adding multiple makes/model selection, this might be something that could be included alongside those. Keep an eye out for that feature in the future!
Cheers,
Brendan
