I currently have many saved searches, and would like to reorder them based on makes and models1 vote
Great idea and would be a great addition to the site.
You are missing BMW 540d from the dropdown list of car models.1 vote
Add a elastic search field that will autocomplete make and model. This would make searching from a long list of makes and models a lot easier and also reduce the time taken by a user to get from the search page to their search results.3 votes
Make/model comboboxes are planned!
I would like to search for Italian cars, German cars, USA cars, etc. This will pile up all in one result.1 vote
That could be really handy having them grouped together like that.
Add Autolist, Bring a Trailer, edmunds, AutoNation, etc to the sites AutoTempest search.1 vote
I'd like to see the single Truck category be split into small and full size (or large). (Canyon, Tacoma, Ranger, etc)
right now i'm having to type in the model of every small truck and an option for that would be much nicer to have.1 vote
I see what you mean. Unfortunately since we don’t get that data from our sources, I think the only way we could do it would be something similar to what you’re doing—we’d need to keep a list of all the small vs large truck models. Might look into it at some point if this idea is popular.
We do have some plans to improve the Canadian experience. One issue is that so far neither Kijiji nor Autotrader.ca is interested in having their stuff on our results page, so both of those will need to be comparison links. We’re looking into some other options to have more results right on the page for Canadians though!
Make it available worldwide - ebay and autotrader and craigslist is available in other countries too. I'm hoping for the UK edition.
We would definitely like to expand to other geos in the future, and the UK would probably be top of the list. Before that though, we have a number of improvements we want to make to the current site. (In particular, we’ve got some new filters to add, and our model matching isn’t as good as we’d like it to be yet.)
In the meantime, you could try using our other site, www.searchtempest.com. It will let you search craigslist and eBay worldwide. (Although it does use a google custom search rather than direct links to search craigslist outside North America, so it won’t always catch everything.)
If i search for vehicles under $10,000 all it shows is from bring a trailer and none of them are under that price. Need to clean things up alot, thats very frustrating.1 vote
Since all Bring a Trailer listings are auctions, they don’t have fixed prices. And we don’t get an updated feed of the current bids, so can’t filter out those that are above your price without filtering them all out. For now we’ve decided to err on the side of showing them.
That said, if you want to you can turn off the whole Bring a trailer source in the choose sources menu at the top of the results page.
Regarding why you’re not getting other results, please reply to this notification email and let us know what you’re searching for exactly and where, so we can check it out.
The ability to search craigslist regions instead of a "circle" around my area.
So if I want to exclude let's say cars from Salt Lake City vs. Phoenix.
If I live in vegas and search within a certain circle I get both, but I don't ever want cars from Utah or Idaho for that matter. So if I could just have a clickable map to always search that would be nice.1 vote
We’re actually planning to add a filter very soon that will let you restrict results to only within your state, so hopefully that will help. A fully customized selector, potentially with a map, would be much more involved, and may not be worth the time or interface complexity compared to other things we could do—but we will consider it. Will leave this under review for now.
This site seriously needs more in depth truck options. There isnt a 2x4 or 4x4 option, no regular cab, extended cab, crew cab option or long bed, short bed, motor options. Having these options would help narrow down searches and save customers time....just helpful info from a dealer that deals with this on the daily2 votes
Agreed. We will be adding the drive type (2wd, 4×4 etc.) soon. The others are a bit trickier as our sources don’t currently provide that information, but we do support advanced keywords, so you could search for something like
“extended cab” OR “crew cab”
using the keywords field, for instance.
Please add car brand named Ultima3 votes
There are too many vehicles listed as manual when they are in fact automatics. This is an extreme annoyance when searching for a manual as you must also go into the listing, instead of just through the search list, and look at pictures to confirm it is truly a manual. It would be a good idea to also request why the report of a bad listing is being made.6 votes
That’s a good idea. I especially like the idea of flagging wrong transmission type or other wrong info, either for us to review, or maybe to filter automatically somehow (without allowing for abuse). We’ve got a few other things on the go for now, but will definitely keep this in mind.
Carsforsale.com is a strong website for classic car enthusiasts and could draw in more usage of autotempest if you put it in. Love your website guys' website! Thanks!
We’d love to work with carsforsale. Pleas consider reaching out to them to suggest it as well.!
I'd Like to see a search by VIN feature where the results are all similar vehicles of the same year or a range of years.
Enter the VIN number in order to populate vehicles that are the same make model (trim and year can be set on a spectrum).5 votes
Please code the basic search line to allow city, state instead of just zip codes. I am looking at buying a used car outside the rust belt and I keep having to a zip code search first.10 votes
This is something we’re planning to do eventually. Only reason we haven’t done it yet is some other priorities we’re working on first.
sort by amount of savings. compare listing price with the national average price and display percentage saved by purchasing a given car. this way people looking for the best deal and not necessarily a particular car, could quickly sort through adds.9 votes
This is not a bad idea! It could end up being more difficult than it’s worth, but we’ll look into it.
Search Kijiji, eh?4 votes
